Sienna is the woody, full-bodied tobacco in the Indonesian TEREA range and the closest thing here to a straight cigarette taste. No menthol, no fruit, no capsule. It is the stick we point ex-smokers at when the sweeter Indonesian variants have put them off the range entirely.

Woody, and what that means

The dominant note is dry cedar rather than roast. Underneath it sits the fuller Indonesian tobacco base, which gives the stick more body than a Japanese regular of similar strength without adding sweetness.

The finish is long and slightly resinous. This is a stick that rewards a slow draw; rushed, it flattens into ordinary tobacco.

Sienna against the Japanese regulars

Rich Regular from Japan is the obvious comparison and takes a different route to the same weight: dark roast where Sienna uses wood. Rich is drier and more austere; Sienna is rounder.
