IQOS TEREA Sienna Indonesian

Sienna is the woody, full-bodied tobacco in the Indonesian TEREA range and the closest thing here to a straight cigarette taste. No menthol, no fruit, no capsule. It is the stick we point ex-smokers at when the sweeter Indonesian variants have put them off the range entirely.

Woody, and what that means

The dominant note is dry cedar rather than roast. Underneath it sits the fuller Indonesian tobacco base, which gives the stick more body than a Japanese regular of similar strength without adding sweetness.

The finish is long and slightly resinous. This is a stick that rewards a slow draw; rushed, it flattens into ordinary tobacco.

Sienna against the Japanese regulars

Rich Regular from Japan is the obvious comparison and takes a different route to the same weight: dark roast where Sienna uses wood. Rich is drier and more austere; Sienna is rounder.

Within the Indonesian range, Bronze adds cocoa and dried fruit to a similar base, which is sweeter. Black Ruby goes darker still with a berry edge. See how the TEREA regions compare if you are choosing between markets. Sienna is also stocked from Switzerland and Italy, each a genuinely different stick under the same name.

Device compatibility

Made for ILUMA. The heating element is inside the stick, which is precisely why a blade device cannot use it and why no TEREA variant will ever work in a 3 DUO. Longer answer here.

Storage and freshness

Keep packs out of direct heat and sunlight, same as any TEREA stick. The flavour holds fine at room temperature but degrades faster in a hot car or on a windowsill. A sealed pack easily outlasts the time it takes to work through it.

Using it, start to finish

Insert one stick into the ILUMA holder, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs about six minutes or fourteen puffs, whichever comes first. Pacing the draw is what gets the full session out of it.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• The closest thing in the range to a straight cigarette taste
• No sweetness to fatigue the palate, a genuine reset if the rest of the range feels cloying

Cons:

• Rewards a slow draw; rushed, it flattens into ordinary tobacco
• No cooling or fruit option at all in this specific stick
