TEREA vs HEETS: which sticks fit which IQOS

The short answer

TEREA fits IQOS ILUMA and ILUMA i devices. HEETS fit the older blade-heated models, meaning the IQOS 3 DUO, the 2.4 and everything before ILUMA. Neither works in the other's device, and no adapter exists.

Why they are not interchangeable

The difference is in how heat reaches the tobacco. A blade device pushes a heated ceramic blade into the stick. ILUMA does not have a blade at all. Instead, each TEREA stick has a metal element sealed inside it, and the device heats that element by induction through the wall of the holder.

So a HEETS stick in an ILUMA has nothing to heat it, because there is no blade and no metal element in the stick. Nothing happens. And a TEREA stick in a blade device gets a ceramic blade forced into a stick that was never designed to be pierced, which at best does not work and at worst damages the blade.

How to tell which device you have

• Look inside the holder. If you can see a thin blade sticking up from the base, it is a blade device and takes HEETS.
• If the holder is smooth and empty inside, it heats by induction and takes TEREA.
• Cleaning sticks in the box? That is a blade device. ILUMA has nothing to clean.

What if I bought the wrong ones

Sealed packs can be returned within 7 days as long as they are unopened and still in their original packaging. If you have already opened them, unfortunately not, for health and safety reasons. Message us before opening if you are unsure.

Moving from HEETS to TEREA

It means changing device. The cheapest route in is the ILUMA i One, which is a single piece with no separate charger. The i Standard splits into a holder and pocket charger and suits longer days out. Once you are on ILUMA, the whole TEREA range opens up, across six source markets.

Third-party holders follow the same rule. The Lambda i8 is induction and takes TEREA. The Lambda CC has a blade and takes HEETS.
