IQOS TEREA Purple Wave Indonesian

Purple Wave brings dark forest fruit together with a firm menthol. Richer than the green-fruit variants and one of the fuller cooled sticks in the Indonesian line-up.

Dark fruit, firm cooling

Blackberry and blackcurrant rather than anything red or bright. The Indonesian base gives it more body than a Japanese berry stick would have, and the menthol is set high enough to keep the sweetness from spreading.

It holds its character all the way through the stick, which not every fruit variant manages.

Purple Wave or Golden Edition?

Golden Edition uses ripe berries with much lighter cooling and is the sweeter, gentler stick. Purple Wave is darker on both counts.

Japan's Black Purple Menthol pushes the same idea further with a roasted base. See the region guide for how the two markets treat berry differently.

All five Purple Wave regions, compared

Purple Wave is the widest-spread variant we stock by price: 120 here in Indonesia, 125 in Uzbekistan, 135 in Kyrgyzstan, 160 in Switzerland, 215 in Italy. The full comparison lists all five with real stock and flavour notes, since the taste shifts as much as the price does across this one.

Device compatibility

Induction only. TEREA Purple Wave Indonesian slots into ILUMA and ILUMA i holders and sits inert in anything older. The Lambda i8 is the third-party option that works; the Lambda CC is not.

Using it, start to finish

Insert one stick into the ILUMA holder, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs about six minutes or fourteen puffs, whichever comes first. Pacing the draw is what gets the full session out of it.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Holds its dark-fruit character through the whole stick, which not every fruit variant manages
• The fullest, richest version of Purple Wave thanks to the Indonesian base
• The cheapest of the five regions we stock this flavour from, at 120 AED

Cons:

• Menthol is set firm, too much if you want fruit without heavy cooling
• Japan's Black Purple Menthol goes further still if maximum intensity is the goal
