TEREA Auburn Edition Indonesia

Auburn is roasted, nutty tobacco with nothing cooling in it. One of the fuller sticks in the Indonesian range and the closest thing here to a traditional cigarette taste for someone who has just switched.

The nutty character

Toasted almond rather than sweet nut, sitting over a roast that is heavier than the Japanese equivalents. The Indonesian base adds body underneath, which is why Auburn feels substantial in a way that a similarly described Japanese stick would not.

No capsule, no fruit, no menthol. What you draw on the first puff is what you get on the fourteenth.

Auburn or Warm Regular?

Warm Regular from Japan is the direct comparison, and it is noticeably lighter. Same nutty idea, less body behind it. Auburn is what you want if Warm Regular felt thin.

For something darker without the nuttiness, Sienna goes woody instead. The region guide covers why Indonesian sticks run fuller across the board.

Who this suits

Recent switchers from cigarettes who want a full-bodied, no-frills tobacco taste rather than anything fruity or cooled.

Device compatibility

AUBURN edition heats by induction, which means an ILUMA or ILUMA i holder, or the Lambda i8. Drop it into a blade-heated 3 DUO and nothing happens. Here is how to tell which device you own.

Storage and freshness

Keep packs out of direct heat and sunlight, same as any TEREA stick. The flavour holds fine at room temperature but degrades faster in a hot car or on a windowsill. A sealed pack easily outlasts the time it takes to work through it.

Using it, start to finish

Insert one stick into the ILUMA holder, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs about six minutes or fourteen puffs, whichever comes first. Pacing the draw is what gets the full session out of it.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Fuller-bodied than the Japanese nutty equivalent, Warm Regular
• Close to a conventional tobacco taste for recent cigarette switchers

Cons:

• No fruit or cooling at all if that's what you're after, this is plain, full-bodied tobacco and nothing else
