IQOS TEREA Fusion Menthol Japan

Fusion Menthol layers cooling with a fruit edge rather than picking one or the other. It sits between the plain menthols and the fruit-forward sticks, which makes it a useful middle ground if neither camp has quite worked for you.

What layered actually means here

The menthol leads, as it does in TEREA Menthol, but a fruit note develops through the middle of the stick and lifts the finish. It is not a fruit stick with cooling added; it is a cooling stick with fruit underneath.

The order matters. If you want fruit to be the main event, this will read as a menthol with something going on. If you want menthol with more interest than plain, this is exactly it.

Fusion or one of the fruit menthols?

Tropical and Purple Menthol both put fruit first and are noticeably sweeter. Fusion keeps the dry, clean character of a straight menthol and adds complexity rather than sugar.

Coming from TEREA Menthol and finding it monotonous over a carton? This is the natural next pack.

Who this suits

Menthol regulars who want more going on than a straight cooling stick, without switching all the way over to a sweet fruit-forward variant.

Compatibility

Induction devices only: ILUMA, ILUMA i and Lambda i8. Blade-heated IQOS models cannot heat TEREA.

Twenty sticks a pack, six-minute sessions or fourteen puffs. The fruit layer is most apparent in the middle third of the stick, so pacing the draw brings it out.

Storage and freshness

Keep packs out of direct heat and sunlight. A hot car in Dubai does more damage to flavour than months on a shelf indoors. A sealed pack holds its character for as long as it takes to work through a carton.

Using it, start to finish

Insert one stick into the ILUMA holder, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs about six minutes or fourteen puffs, whichever comes first. There's no way to extend a single stick beyond that, so pacing the draw is what gets the full session out of it.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Keeps a straight menthol's dry, clean character while adding real complexity
• A natural next step if plain Menthol has gone monotonous over a carton

Cons:

• Not a true fruit stick, if fruit should lead, Tropical or Purple Menthol suit better
• Japan-only release
