TEREA Regular is the plain tobacco stick from the Japanese range, and the one we point people at first when they are coming off cigarettes. No menthol, no fruit, no capsule to crush. Just a clean, mid-strength tobacco that behaves the same way on the first draw as it does on the fourteenth.

What it tastes like

Straightforward roasted tobacco with a dry finish. It sits at the middle of the Japanese range for strength: heavier than Smooth Regular, lighter than Rich Regular. There is no sweetness added to round it off, which is exactly why it works as a first stick.

Throat feel is soft compared with a cigarette. That catches people out at first, because the absence of smoke makes it feel like you are getting less than you are. Give it three or four sticks before deciding.

Regular, Smooth or Rich?

These three cover the plain-tobacco end of the Japanese range and the difference between them is body rather than flavour direction.

• Smooth Regular is the lightest. Pick it if Regular feels like too much.
• Regular sits in the middle and suits most people.
• Rich Regular is fuller and more roasted, closer to a full-strength cigarette.

If you want a little more character without more strength, Warm Regular adds a nutty note and Ruby Regular brings coffee and spice.

Which devices take it

ILUMA and ILUMA i holders only. The heating element is sealed inside the stick and needs an induction coil, so a blade-heated IQOS such as the 3 DUO cannot fire it at all. The Lambda i8 works; the blade-based Lambda CC does not.

Twenty sticks a pack. A moderate smoker gets two to three days from one, so a carton of ten covers about three weeks. Keep packs out of direct sun, which in a car in Dubai matters more than it sounds.

Does TEREA Regular have menthol?

No. It is plain tobacco with no menthol and no capsule. For cooling, look at TEREA Menthol or one of the Pearl variants with a crushable capsule.

How long does one pack last?

Twenty sticks, which works out at two to three days for most people. Ordering a carton of ten is the usual pattern here and saves repeat deliveries.
