IQOS TEREA Purple Wave Menthol Italy

Italian Purple Wave brings berry together with a menthol wave, the cooling building through the stick rather than arriving at once. 215 AED.

How the wave works

Dark berry leads. Menthol comes up behind it and strengthens towards the end, which is what the name describes and what genuinely happens in the draw.

Drier than the Indonesian version, sweeter than the Japanese berry sticks.

Purple Wave in four markets

Indonesia is fullest and sweetest. Kyrgyzstan costs 135 and sits close to this one. Switzerland is drier again.

Italy lands in the middle on both sweetness and price.

Device compatibility

Induction only. ILUMA, ILUMA i and the Lambda i8 all work; the 3 DUO and anything before it do not. The full explanation.

Using it, start to finish

Insert one stick into the ILUMA holder, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs about six minutes or fourteen puffs, whichever comes first. Pacing the draw is what gets the full session out of it.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• The cooling genuinely builds through the stick rather than hitting all at once, a real, not just named, effect
• Sits in the middle on sweetness, useful if Indonesia's version is too sweet and Switzerland's too dry
• A genuinely different experience start to finish, unlike a flat-profile menthol

Cons:

• Not the cheapest Purple Wave region, Kyrgyzstan (135 AED) sits close on profile for less
• Sweeter than Japan's Purple Menthol, the driest berry-menthol option we stock, if dry is what you want

Storage and freshness

Keep packs out of direct heat and sunlight, same as any TEREA stick. The flavour holds fine at room temperature but degrades faster in a hot car or on a windowsill. A sealed pack easily outlasts the time it takes to work through it.
