Which one to choose

The i One is the simplest: one piece, nothing to carry separately, and AutoStart begins heating as soon as a stick goes in. The i Standard splits into a holder and pocket charger and adds a touch screen, Pause Mode for up to eight minutes and FlexBattery Eco and Performance modes. i Standard or i Prime?

Both have the touch screen, Pause Mode, FlexBattery and FlexPuff, and both run up to three sticks back to back from the pocket charger. The i Prime is the premium version of the same device, so choose it for the materials and finish rather than for extra features. If you want the most sticks per charge, the all-in-one i One manages up to 20 in a row.

Electric Purple or a standard colour?

Functionally, each Electric Purple model matches its standard-colour version. Electric Purple costs more than the standard colours, and the colour is what that buys. If colour does not matter to you, the standard ranges cost less: ILUMA i One, ILUMA i Standard and ILUMA i Prime.

Sticks and daily use

All three take TEREA only, from any of the seven source markets we stock, and none of them take HEETS. Charge fully before the first use. Insert a TEREA stick, wait for the ready signal, then draw. A session runs six minutes or fourteen puffs, and FlexPuff adds up to four more puffs on a slow draw. Not sure which TEREA to start with? TEREA Japan is the usual first pick.

Pause Mode and the touch screen

The Electric Purple i Standard and i Prime have the full ILUMA i feature set. The touch screen shows the preheating status, the time left in the stick and how many sticks the holder has left. Pause Mode holds a part-smoked stick for up to eight minutes, within the first three minutes or eight puffs. To pause, swipe down across the screen; two vertical lines show when Pause Mode is available, and a vibration confirms it. To resume, swipe up, and the holder reheats for about 20 seconds. A paused stick is limited to 14 puffs in total, before and after the pause. In Performance Mode the holder gives up to three sticks in a row. The Electric Purple i One has no Pause Mode, so a stick runs to the end once it starts.

Charging each model

The i One charges as one piece over USB-C, in about an hour and a half, and gives up to 20 uses in a row. The i Standard and i Prime charge the pocket charger over USB-C, in about two hours and 15 minutes from empty, and the holder tops up from it in a couple of minutes between sticks. Charge fully before the first use.

Buying Electric Purple as a gift

If you are buying Electric Purple for someone else, the body matters more than the colour. Choose the i One for someone who wants one piece and nothing to manage, the i Standard for someone who is out all day and would use Pause Mode, and the i Prime for someone who cares about premium materials. Every one arrives sealed, and all three take the same TEREA sticks.
