IQOS ILUMA i Standard Midnight Black

Midnight Black is the standard ILUMA i Standard finish, 250 AED for a device that splits into a holder and pocket charger rather than running as one piece.

Why the two-piece format earns its price

The pocket charger refills the holder between sticks, so instead of rationing one battery across the day you keep topping up. Heating runs at 350°C by SMARTCORE induction, bladeless throughout, and FlexPuff adds up to four extra puffs on a slow draw.

That is the entire case for paying more than an i One: runtime, not taste. The tobacco heats identically either way.

Standard or Prime?

The i Prime runs the same engine in an aluminium body with a touch screen and Pause Mode on top. Neither gives you more sticks per charge than the i Standard. Compare all three here.

Charging and using it

Charge the pocket charger fully before the first use. After that, slot the holder into the charger between sessions. A holder top-up takes only a couple of minutes, since the pocket charger itself is the slow part, around 135 minutes from empty over USB-C.

Insert a TEREA stick, wait for the ready signal, then draw. SMARTCORE brings the stick to 350°C through induction, no blade involved. FlexPuff adds up to four extra puffs on a slow draw if you want a slightly longer session.

In the box

Holder, pocket charger and a USB-C cable. No cleaning sticks needed, since induction heating leaves nothing to scrape.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• The default, safest colour choice on this body
• Identical performance to every other colour in the range
• The easiest colour to match with any case or accessory, since it's the most common finish sold

Cons:

• No more sticks per charge than the cheaper i One, the premium here is entirely for runtime flexibility, not performance
• No touch screen or Pause Mode, the i Prime is the step up if those matter to you
