LAMBDA CC Black for HEETS

Black is the default Lambda CC finish and the most understated of the six: it disappears into a bag or a pocket and hides marks well. Like every Lambda CC colour, it is a blade-heated holder built for HEETS, at the same price as the rest of the range.

What sets a Lambda apart from a stock IQOS

Two things a factory IQOS does not give you: adjustable heating and adjustable session length. The temperature runs 200°C to 300°C rather than one fixed point, and a session can be stretched from three minutes to six. Turn the heat down and stretch the session, and a single HEETS stick draws noticeably longer.

The titanium steel blade heats in the same way any blade IQOS does. What differs is that you get a say in how it heats.

Black or one of the brighter colours

Mechanically every CC colour is identical. Red and Gold stand out more; Black disappears into a bag or a pocket, which is the usual reason people choose it over a brighter finish.

Smoke TEREA instead of HEETS? You want the Lambda i8, not this one. The full comparison against stock IQOS is here.

Choosing between the six finishes

Red, Army Green, Black, Grey, White and Gold all run the same 3200 mAh battery, the same titanium steel blade, the same OLED HD display, and the same 200°C to 300°C, three-to-six-minute adjustable range. None of that changes with colour. The only real question is which finish you'd rather carry.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• The most neutral, easiest-to-live-with finish in the range
• Hides marks and fingerprints better than the lighter colours
• Same 3200 mAh battery, OLED display and adjustable heat as every other CC finish

Cons:

• Takes HEETS and other blade-type sticks only, not TEREA
• 35 to 40 sessions per charge, then it needs roughly two and a half hours back on Type-C
