How long does a disposable vape last?

Puff counts are the main thing disposables are sold on and the least useful number on the box. Here is what they translate to.

Rough translation to days

A moderate user takes somewhere around 300 to 500 puffs a day. Heavier use runs higher. Against that, the headline numbers work out roughly as follows.

Puff countModerate useHeavy useRecharging
3,500About a week3–4 daysNo
6,0001–2 weeksAbout a weekYes
10,0002–3 weeks1–2 weeksYes
15,0003–4 weeks2–3 weeksYes
40,000About 2 monthsAbout a monthYes, often
60,0002–3 monthsAbout 6 weeksYes, often

Treat these as ranges rather than promises. Puff length varies enormously between people, and a long slow draw uses several times the liquid a short one does.

The counterintuitive part

Bigger disposables need charging more often, not less. A 3,500-puff device has enough battery to finish its liquid and is thrown away with both exhausted. A 40,000-puff device holds far more liquid than one battery charge can vaporise, so you recharge it repeatedly over its life. Anything above roughly 10,000 puffs ships with a USB-C port, and the cable is usually not in the box.

Which capacity to buy

Match it to how you actually vape rather than to the biggest number available.

  • Occasional or social use: 3,500 puffs. Nothing to charge, cheap enough to try a flavour without commitment.
  • Daily, and you like variety: 6,000 to 10,000. Long enough to be economical, short enough that you are not stuck with one flavour for a month.
  • Daily, and you know what you like: 40,000 or more. One purchase a month, lowest cost per puff, but commit to a flavour you are sure about.

What makes flavour last

Coil type matters more than capacity. Mesh coils hold flavour deeper into the tank; simpler coils fade noticeably towards the end. Devices with a liquid gauge also help, because the common complaint about big disposables is not knowing when to reorder. See the full disposables range for what carries which.
