The JUUL2 device in grey: a 250 mAh built-in battery, USB charging dock, and pods that hold considerably more than the original generation did. Pods are sold separately.

What changed from the original

A tighter draw, redesigned pods holding around 1.2 ml against the original's 0.7, and a different connector. That last point matters most: your old pods will not fit, and these will not fit an original JUUL.

Device only, or the starter kit

The JUUL2 starter kit bundles the device with two pods, which works out cheaper than buying them separately if you do not already have pods in hand.

Choosing pods

Once you have the device, the pod range covers three tobacco options (Virginia, Autumn, Blackcurrant), three straight menthols (Crisp, Polar and Arctic Breeze), two menthols with fruit (Summer and Ruby), and five plain fruit pods. Every pod fits every JUUL2 device regardless of colour.

Using it

Draw-activated, so there's no button to press once a pod is clicked in. Inhale and it fires. The charging dock tops the built-in 250 mAh battery up over USB, and the indicator light shows charge status, battery level, e-liquid level and pod authenticity as you go.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Arrives with nothing to vape, pods are sold separately unless you choose the starter kit instead

The JUUL 2 takes JUUL 2 pods only. We stock them in tobacco, menthol and fruit flavours on our JUUL 2 pods page. Original JUUL 1 pods will not fit.
